Therm-a-Rest Vesper Quilt
Our Vesper Quilt redefines ultralight sleep systems for alpine adventurers who refuse to choose between packability and warmth. We engineered this quilt with 900-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down that maintains loft even in damp conditions, ensuring you stay warm when temperatures drop and condensation builds inside your shelter.
The quilt's unique SynergyLink Connectors integrate seamlessly with compatible sleeping pads, eliminating cold spots and keeping the insulation exactly where you need it throughout the night. Whether you're pushing toward a summit camp or logging miles on a thru-hike, the Vesper compresses into your pack without sacrificing the warmth-to-weight ratio serious backcountry travelers demand.

Down Insulation & Water Resistance
We use 900-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down throughout the Vesper Quilt, treating every cluster at the molecular level so moisture slides off rather than saturating the insulation. This treatment extends loft life in humid environments and ensures the down dries three times faster than untreated fill if condensation does penetrate the shell.
The 10-denier ripstop nylon shell carries a durable water-repellent finish that sheds light precipitation and tent drip. We balance breathability with weather protection so you stay dry from the inside out, even during high-output alpine approaches where perspiration can compromise lesser quilts.

SynergyLink Pad Attachment System
Our SynergyLink Connectors snap directly to loops on compatible Therm-a-Rest sleeping pads, anchoring the quilt so it moves with you instead of migrating during the night. The system eliminates the cold gaps that plague traditional mummy bags when you shift positions.
Pad Compatibility
The Vesper pairs with any Therm-a-Rest pad featuring SynergyLink loops, including the NeoAir XLite, NeoAir XTherm, and ProLite series. If you’re running a pad without integrated loops, the quilt still functions as a stand-alone top layer, though you’ll lose the secure attachment benefit.
Footbox Design & Temperature Regulation
We built the Vesper’s footbox with a snap-closure system that converts between fully enclosed for cold nights and open for warmer conditions or active insulation during camp chores. The adjustable design gives you granular control over ventilation without requiring you to unzip or detach from your pad.
When temperatures hover near the 32°F comfort rating, cinch the top drawcord around your shoulders and close the footbox completely. On milder evenings or during high-exertion camps, open the footbox snaps and drape the quilt loosely for convection cooling while keeping the insulation ready if temps drop unexpectedly.

Questions About the Vesper Quilt
The Vesper Quilt carries a 32°F (0°C) comfort rating, making it ideal for summer alpine trips, shoulder-season backpacking, and three-season camping in temperate climates. Users report staying comfortable down to 30°F when paired with a quality insulated pad and wearing a base layer.
If you regularly camp in colder conditions, consider layering the Vesper with a fleece liner or stepping up to our Corus Quilt, which offers a 20°F rating with heavier insulation.
SynergyLink Connectors are integrated snap loops sewn into the underside of the Vesper Quilt. These loops attach directly to corresponding points on compatible Therm-a-Rest sleeping pads, anchoring the quilt so it moves with you throughout the night instead of sliding off or bunching.
The system works with any Therm-a-Rest pad featuring SynergyLink loops, including NeoAir XLite, XTherm, and ProLite models. You can still use the Vesper with non-compatible pads, though you'll lose the secure attachment benefit.
Yes, you can safely wash the Vesper in a front-loading machine using Nikwax Down Wash on a gentle cycle. Avoid top-loaders with center agitators, as these can tear baffles and redistribute the down unevenly.
After washing, tumble dry on low heat with two clean tennis balls to break up clumps and restore loft. The process takes 2-3 hours, and you should check periodically to ensure the down isn't matting. Never use fabric softener or standard detergent, as these strip the hydrophobic treatment.
The regular-length Vesper compresses to approximately 6 liters in the included stuff sack, measuring roughly 7 inches in diameter by 13 inches tall when fully compressed. This compact size fits easily in the bottom of most 40-50 liter backpacking packs.
The long version adds about half a liter of packed volume while providing extra length for taller users. Both sizes use compression straps on the stuff sack to cinch the quilt down to its minimum volume.
Quilts and sleeping bags with the same temperature rating provide comparable warmth, but quilts achieve this with less weight by eliminating insulation underneath your body, where pad compression renders it ineffective anyway. The Vesper relies on your sleeping pad for bottom insulation while concentrating down where it actually traps heat.
The trade-off is that quilts require proper pad attachment and technique to seal out drafts. Once dialed in, most users find quilts sleep warmer than traditional bags at the same rating because the insulation isn't compressed by body weight.
Attach the SynergyLink Connectors to your pad's loops and cinch the top drawcord snugly around your shoulders. Close the footbox snaps completely on cold nights, and tuck the quilt's edges beneath your body along the sides to create a seal.
Most draft issues occur when users treat quilts like blankets instead of securing them properly. The Vesper is designed to wrap around your pad and body as a cohesive sleep system, not to drape loosely over the top. Once you master the attachment sequence, drafts disappear entirely.
The Vesper uses 900-fill down with a 32°F comfort rating, prioritizing ultralight weight for summer alpine and warm-weather backpacking. The Corus employs 650-fill down with a 20°F rating, offering more warmth for extended-season camping at the cost of a few extra ounces.
Both quilts feature Nikwax Hydrophobic Down and SynergyLink attachment, but the Vesper compresses smaller and weighs less, while the Corus provides better cold-weather coverage. Choose based on the lowest temperatures you expect to encounter on your typical trips.
